A relatively warm month due largely to a mean maximumu temperature 2.4°C above average making the mean maximum temperature for March the highest since records began in 1979. Overall monthly mean temperature the highest since 1997 and the second warmest since 1979. The first three months of 2003 have recorded 222.2 hours of sunshine which is 176% of normal
